I parked my truck and strolled down the main street, soaking in the sights and sounds of Bandera’s lively atmosphere.



As I explored, I ventured by the 11th Street Cowboy Bar, a legendary local watering hole famous for its live music and welcoming atmosphere. That’s when I saw it—the windmill. It stood tall and proud against the sky, its weathered blades glinting faintly in the afternoon sun, with a Texas flag painted on its fin. It was the kind of structure that whispered stories of resilience and endurance, quietly waiting to be noticed.



But there was a problem: what seemed like a million power lines crisscrossed the scene. They were everywhere, forming a tangled web between me and the windmill. I sighed, momentarily discouraged. This windmill deserved a clean, uninterrupted portrait, and I was determined to give it one.



I began repositioning myself, walking around the street to find the best angle that minimized the lines. Each step brought a new perspective, but the power lines seemed inescapable. Eventually, I found a spot where the view was as clear as it was going to get. The rest, I knew, would have to be fixed later.



I raised my camera and lined up the shot, ensuring the iconic windmill dominated the frame. The bright sky provided a perfect backdrop, and I took a moment to admire how the sunlight danced across the metal, emphasizing its intricate design. The real challenge came later, back at my studio. The editing process was painstaking. Each power line had to be removed carefully by hand, one by one.
